About the Job

As Design Director, you’ll be responsible for being the creative force behind LTV’s multi-brand portfolio. This is a rare chance to mold the future direction of large-scale consumer web brands, working with and growing our rockstar design department. You will be instrumental in helping our designers reach their max potential, working cross-functionally on web products, marketing, and sales acquisition funnels. You will have a chance to influence brand strategy (including any future brands), marketing creatives across multiple channels, and product development.

Our ideal candidate has managed design for some aspect of a consumer product, has experience working with a 6+ person department, and can come up with a plan for evolving, scaling, and coaching them to a world-class level. We’re looking for that rare unicorn who has a killer design eye, natural instinct for management, and an ability to inspire creativity in others.

What You Will Get to Do

  • Oversee design across the entire spectrum of customer touchpoints
  • Lead, inspire, and motivate the design department to provide innovative solutions that work
  • Help to level up LTV’s design department through recruiting, hiring, and training
  • Work with senior product and operational leadership to allocate design resources in an efficient way
  • Champion each of our brand’s unique identities, while organizing brand guidelines and assets to maintain consistency
  • Improve design department camaraderie and happiness by leading design meetings, social gatherings, and other team-building activities
  • Collaborate with product and analytics leaders to understand the business impact of design. We have a strong A/B testing culture and want someone who buys into the importance of data-driven decision making
  • Manage both Sr. and Jr. designers and help them refine their work, prioritize their time, improve their skills, and make sure their designs are “on-brief”

What You Bring to the Table

  • A portfolio of beautiful and functional web products and creatives
  • An understanding of what customers want and the ability to balance it with company goals
  • A willingness to help out on any design project, regardless of medium, whether its mobile apps, print, television advertising, or email
  • Great communication skills: confidence speaking, sketching, posting, and ideating with your team
  • Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders and senior management
  • Endless curiosity and a passion for sharing the latest design trends and tools
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to create and maintain pixel-perfect consistency across channels and platforms
  • At least 5 years of related design and management experience
  • Strong project management and organizational skills and an ability to impart those skills to other designers
  • A strong understanding of UX, UI, and branding
  • User research experience

  • Animation skills
  • CSS and HTML
  • UX or other design certification
  • An ability to craft new logos or a history creating a new brand from scratch
